It was a challenge for those parents to set an example for the children and help them to know God. Once, as I was learning to engage the children with me in listening to the voice of God, God spoke clearly. During our prayer time, one of the young boys had an image of a green frog, another saw a rainbow, and yet another received a word from Isaiah 43 about gathering together and being a witness of the Lord.

We had prepared a small program, even though it was pouring rain on the way there. One of the young children in the van asked me, "What's the name of our group?" I said, "Well, why don't you ask the Lord?" We had been studying about the meaning of being children of the King, and he came back with the name King's Kids. I had no idea that day would be the launch of a ministry. When we arrived, we encountered many problems, the rain intensified, and our decorations were destroyed (the green frog, the rainbow...). But the children had heard the voice of God, and they continued in faith that many would hear the gospel and that people would open their hearts to Jesus. I wasn't so sure. When the program ended, a very distressed person approached me aggressively. Honestly, I thought they might even hit me, they seemed so upset. Instead, the person spoke words that changed my life, "The children are so pure, I am so dirty. Please help me!" and knelt before me. The child who had seen the image of the green frog stood beside me and said, "Great, this is the first one," and then we saw several people opening their hearts to the Lord. Later, when I gathered the children, I asked them, "What happened here?" That's when God's word was confirmed in our hearts through following the signs. These children had seen the reality of God; I saw them discovering in their hearts who He is and making the decision to love and obey Him. It was the year 1976, and it was the beginning of KKI, which grew and multiplied to various countries.

In 1979, as we continued listening to the voice of God and growing alongside Him, He challenged us to move forward internationally. He spoke to us through Isaiah 12:4-5: "Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his name. Make known among the nations what he has done." We learned that primary concern for God and a method of ministering to His heart. Taking Abraham's example, we started going to different places, digging wells, and building altars. Specifically, we asked God to cleanse our hearts, we praised Him, waited in His presence, He spoke to us, we interceded, made His will known wherever we were, and then took radical steps of obedience in serving and testifying to others. God began to strategically guide us to different places in the world – Hiroshima, Moscow, various capitals with leaders from other countries – allowing us to experience the meaning of going with faith to all nations.

In 1982, our challenge was to train and prepare for multiplication. We had our first school two years later in Kona, Hawaii. During that time, we developed a vision for how to engage not only with individuals but also with families, local churches, and others. A few months later, we had our first mega camp in Los Angeles, from which the first multiplication of teams emerged: one focused on the United States, another in Europe, another in South America, another in Asia and the Pacific. We began to see King's Kids International growing in the nations.

In 1986, we had our first international leaders' meeting, where we grappled with the question: "What is King's Kids?" We realized that we needed to be grounded in values. We identified the words God had given us and the values they represented and began launching a series of training programs, camps, and tours. We recognized the need to do this within YWAM, involving families, churches, and other similar ministries.

In 1987, we launched our first local, national, and regional leaders' meetings, and this began to serve the process of developing leaders at different levels.

In 1991, we had our first international leaders' assembly. It was during this time that we recognized the four ministry expressions: mobilize, disciple, reach, and care.

Then in 1992 (in Barcelona), we brought together over 3000 King's Kids from around the world, engaging in a more strategic mobilization process.

In 2005, we were awakened to the need to return to our original mandate, which we had deviated from in many ways. We recognized the importance of re-strengthening our foundations in families and generational connections. This process continues to be ongoing for us during the second decade of the 21st century.

Read more...

["post-36","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
"1536x1536":false,"2048x2048":false
["GET
